To nurture connection, agency, and lifelong flourishing by creating experiences for learning and exploration that support people of all ages—emphasizing youth—in developing the skills, confidence, and sense of belonging needed to live engaged, meaningful lives within their communities and the greater world.

What This Means

We believe meaningful change begins with curiosity, joy, connection, and possibility. Through experiences that inspire learning, creativity, exploration, and service, we hope to help people discover their strengths, build lasting relationships, and contribute to vibrant communities. 

We also believe thriving communities grow through caring for one another, caring for the places we share, and and using our gifts to strengthen our communities.

Planting the First Seeds

Seeds of Power didn't begin with paperwork or bylaws. It began with a lifelong curiosity about people, communities, and what helps them flourish.

We believe every community is rich with gifts, talents, ideas, cultures, and people who care deeply. We also recognize that every community faces challenges and opportunities. Sometimes what makes the biggest difference isn't creating something entirely new—it's helping people, ideas, organizations, and existing efforts become more connected, better supported, and more sustainable. 

Seeds of Power was created to cultivate opportunities for people and communities to flourish. We aim to do this by creating our own experiences and initiatives, partnering with organizations that share our vision, and supporting community-led ideas that align with our mission. Whether we're launching a new project or helping an existing one grow, our goal is the same: to cultivate more joy, connection, curiosity, belonging, stewardship, learning, and possibility. 

We believe some of the most meaningful ideas begin at the grassroots level. Too often, they simply need a little more support—whether that's encouragement, volunteers, partnerships, funding, organization, or someone willing to say, "Let's make this happen." We hope Seeds of Power can be one of those partners, helping great ideas take root and grow while continuing to create meaningful opportunities and programs of our own. 

Because meaningful work begins with listening, our first step wasn't launching programs—it was inviting the community into the conversation. Through our inaugural Community Pulse Survey, neighbors shared their hopes, priorities, and dreams, helping shape what Seeds of Power may grow into. We believe the most meaningful work isn't done for a community, but with one. 

Today, Seeds of Power is just beginning. We look forward to growing alongside the communities we serve, building meaningful partnerships, and creating opportunities that inspire people to learn, connect, contribute, and discover what's possible.

A Founder’s Story

Seeds of Power grew out of founder Jessi Alvarado's lifelong passion for learning, community, and creating spaces where people can discover their strengths, connect with their passions, and contribute to something larger than themselves.

Through years of teaching, entrepreneurship, volunteerism, and community involvement, one theme kept emerging: communities are filled with extraordinary people and ideas. What they often need isn't someone to solve their problems—it’s someone willing to help connect people, support good ideas, and create opportunities for those ideas to fully form.

Seeds of Power was created as a place where those opportunities could grow.
